Self Portrait 02/23

A self portrait for Figure Drawing. We need to do one every week now. We had a really great lecture on facial anatomy last Thursday. I used standard 6b and 2b pencils to draw this. I used 6b to block in shadows, and 2b for details. I think the technique I used in class made this much better than the one I drew last week. I did a lot of drawing via subtraction, rather than addition. I wish I had something to really bump the highlights, but both chalk and white charcoal didn't do a thing. My sketchbook paper is so crappy!
Figure drawing has been going very well. We had our second critique today. It was humbling to see my work alongside that of my talented classmates. Our teacher tells us that we haven't done figure drawing yet, and that it officially starts Thursday. I'm a little anxious.
I just finished an animation project that's been taking up a lot of my time lately. Hopefully I can get back on track posting my backlog of art sometime this century.

I'll see if I can post my animation project. =) Thank you so much darlin'! I never knew how to draw a nose properly... My teacher says under-drawing it is good.
